The relevance of biographic narratives for social workers’ professional memory, reflexivity and identity

The present article is about the use of biographic methods and oral history, and its contribution to developing processes of critical reflection and reflexivity. It is based on a set of oral data collected from Portuguese social workers who played an active role in the revolutionary phase during the transition from dictatorship to democracy in Portugal (following the 25th April 1974 military coup). [EN] Dynamic laser speckle (DLS) is used as a reliable sensor of activity for all types of materials. Traditional applications are based on high-rate captures (usually greater than 10 frames-per-second, fps). Even for drying processes in conservation treatments, where there is a high level of activity in the first moments after the application and slower activity after some minutes or hours, the process is based on the acquisition of images at a time rate that is the same in moments of high and low activity. Latvians are one of the most mobile European nations. Latvian migration to Sweden has a long history. After the II World War, more than 4,000 people moved from Latvia to Sweden, fleeing Soviet power. The second wave of immigration to Sweden began with the restoration of Latvian independence in 1991 and continues to this day. Both of these waves of migration are documented in the Latvian National Oral History collection. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir atklāt kā dažādi andergraunda mūzikas aspekti mainījušies Latvijai un Lietuvai pārejot no Padomju Savienības uz postpadomju režīmu, posmā no 1985. līdz 1995. gadam. Veids, kādā noteiktas subkultūras identitāte veidojas ar kultūras palīdzību, tiek pētīts, izmantojot mutvārdu vēsturi. Veiktās intervijas ar andergraunda virziena pārstāvjiem, ļāva nonākt pie objektīvāka salīdzinājuma mūzikas lomai gan laikā – pārejā no padomju uz pēcpadomju periodu, gan telpā - starp Lietuvu un Latviju. Opole celebrates its 800th anniversary of city rights in 2017. As a result,the article presents three thematic threads related to the latest history of Opole. In the first passage, an interesting project was discussed under the name “Almost few remember - memories of the inhabitants of Opole” realized in 2017 as part of the “Archive of Oral History”. In the second, the most extensive part, the stormy events in Opole Silesia have been described in the last messengers of the Second World War. The last part of the article was devoted to educational proposals, which can be used by history teachers in the course of the subject “History and society, the legacy of epochs”.

Resumen Durante la Guerra Civil española (1936-1939) unos 5000 niños y niñas tuvieron que marchar al exilio, encontrando en Bélgica un nuevo hogar de acogida temporal. Al finalizar el conflicto bélico, la mayoría de ellos fueron repatriados y regresaron junto a sus familias o a centros benéfico-paternalistas franquistas. Alrededor de un millar no regresaron por diferentes motivos. Este artículo recoge el testimonio de una decena de estos “niños” hispano-belgas y sus familiares, acudiendo a la historia oral y a la memoria, para recuperar una parte de la historia de la educación y la infancia. Kolektīvo monogrāfiju veido astoņas nodaļas, kurās tiek risināti jautājumi par paaudzēm un atmiņām, kas tiek stāstītas vai noklusētas latviešu dzīvesstāstos, veidojot pieredzes lauka pārmantojamību. Paaudžu perspektīvā šīs problēmas Latvijas dzīvesstāstu pētnieki aplūko pirmoreiz. Individuālo atmiņu un pieredzes savdabība paaudžu nomaiņas gaitā paver jaunu skatījumu uz vēsturiskām norisēm kā impulsiem cilvēku reakcijai un rīcībai. In post-war Finland thousands of children experienced poor upbringing, neglect and abuse, and had to deal with their experiences without social support from adults. In this article we study how difficult and bitter experiences related to childhood crises are remembered, reinterpreted and reframed in later life and in contemporary Finland. As research material we use both oral and written reminiscences of childhood in the post-war years collected in the period 2014–2016. We argue that in the recollections of difficult childhood coping and resilience emerge as major narrative themes. Latvijas Universitātes Filozofijas un socioloģijas institūta dzīvesstāstu pētnieku grupas kolektīvā monogrāfija “Piederēt un atšķirties: romu, krievu un latviešu dzīvesstāsti Latvijā” noslēdz Latvijas Zinātnes padomes pētnieciskā projekta “Etniskā un naratīvā dažādība dzīvesstāstu konstrukcijās Latvijā” īstenošanu. Projekts tika realizēts no 2012. līdz 2016. gadam LU FSI vadošās pētnieces un Bristoles universitātes emeritētās profesores Viedas Skultānes vadībā.
